Good Luck Little Sparta!

January 20, 2009

Such good news–my little foster kitten, Sparta, was adopted and went to her forever home last week.  I’m so happy for her, but I’m missing her and her little antics.  The house is very calm and quiet now.  The “boys” and I will rest up and get ready for the next foster baby!  Good luck Sparta-kins!

Adventures in Website Design

January 20, 2009

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know a whole lot about website design.  However, since my budget was even lower than my level of knowledge, I assigned myself the task of creating the official Cleopatra Glass website over the holidays.  After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, I got a pretty good foundation going.   I also quickly realized how difficult it would be to have a full-fledged shopping website.  Creating a whole new webpage for each and every item for sale would eat up much more time than I can spare.  So instead of trying to duplicate the shopping functionality of my Etsy shop, I decided to focus on supplementing and complementing it.  There are several inherent limitations to the Etsy shop structure that my personal website and blog will attempt to fill.  For example, the website will have a gallery of Sold Items showing items sold on Etsy but also items sold elsewhere.   The section of currently available items will show a selection of items from the Etsy shop that will link directly into the Etsy shop.  So, the website is up and running now, and I’m always looking for construction criticism or helpful hints.  If you haven’t checked it out, it’s at:  www.cleopatraglass.com.  Have a great week!

New Kiln Baby--First bowl with my new mold!

New Kiln Baby--First bowl with my new mold!

First new kiln baby for 2009!  I just got a new mold to make large bowls.  I think this design’s shape is gorgeous with its beautiful scalloped edges.  It will result in beautiful bowls with either a solid colored glass or a multicolored design.  The finished fused art glass bowl measures approximately 10″ in diameter and 2″ in height.  This size will be great for a decorative serving bowl.  I’ll be listing some on my website for sale soon at www.cleopatraglass.etsy.com

Hello 2009!

January 5, 2009

As one of my resolutions for 2009, I’m starting a blog that will follow my Cleopatra Glass activities as well as my personal adventures.  As this long weekend comes quickly to its end, I’ll face the new week and the new year with a positive outlook and hope for a better year!  I’m hoping for a happy and healthy 2009 for all my family and friends!
